The difference between needing roof repairs and a full re-roof

As experienced roofing contractors, we are primed to give you all the information you need to make decisions regarding your roofing repairs. If you have a problem with your roof, you may be unsure whether it needs to just be repaired or be replaced completely. Look out for the following signs:

An ageing roof

Most roofing contractors in Birmingham would agree that the lifespan of the average roof is up to 25 years. If your roof is approaching this marker, it’s definitely sensible to prepare for a re-roof.

Old roof valleys

Roof valleys are the perfect catchment area for leaves and snow. In the colder, wetter months, this part of your roof can see serious damage, and be the tell-tale sign that your roof is starting to show wear and tear. Act now to avoid an emergency call-out!

Decrepit chimney flashing

Like the valleys of the roof, chimney flashing is another marker for how much of an effect age has had on your roof. If this is beginning to become a problem, it’s a key indicator that a re-roof is on the horizon.

Daylight can be seen through the roof

Head into your attic for a look at the inside of your roof. It isn’t always easy to see the top of your roof from the outside, but by looking up from within, you can spot when significant roof repairs have become necessary. If you can see daylight from underneath the roof boards, give us a call so that we can begin the necessary repairs.

If any of these are alarmingly familiar, it’s time to get in touch with us.
